Decongin Tablet is used for Apnea of prematurity in infants, Hypotensive conditions, Nasal decongestant, Eye mydriasis, Intraocular tension, Allergy, Hay fever, Common cold, Watery eyes, Itchy throat/skin and other conditions. Decongin Tablet may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Decongin Tablet contains Caffeine Citrate, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Paracetamol and Phenylephrine as Active ingredients.
Decongin Tablet works by stimulating the brain and and thereby reduces pain; constricting the blood vessels results in decreasing the flow of blood thus relieves nasal congestion; blocking H1-receptor sites on tissues; increasing the pain threshold and increases the blood flow across the skin, heat loss and sweating;
Pregnancy Interaction: Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Decongin Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.

Breast Feeding Interaction: Decongin Tablet is a combination of four medicines: Caffeine, Chlorpheniramine, Paracetamol / Acetaminophen, and Phenylephrine which relieve common cold symptoms. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Paracetamol / Acetaminophen is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Caffeine increases the effectiveness of paracetamol and makes you more alert. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
